Compared and ranked
The best wealth forecasting apps
Almost all personal finance software is retrospective: it categorises what you already spent. A much smaller group projects forward — and among those, there is a real split between projecting a balance and modelling a decision. If you are trying to answer whether you can afford something, that split is the whole question.
Prices checked August 2026. We build one of the products on this list — see how the ranking was made below.
How this list was made
- Only products that genuinely project forward are ranked. Trackers that merely chart history are excluded, however good they are at it.
- Judged on three things: how far out the projection runs, whether you can model discrete events rather than smooth trends, and whether the inputs are live or typed in.
- Bank connectivity matters here more than elsewhere — a long forecast built on stale balances is a long forecast of stale balances.
- We build one of these. It does not win on horizon, and the entry says so.

PocketSmith
The deepest cash-flow projection available, if it can reach your banks.
Free tier; $119.88–$319.92/yr
Strengths
- Projects up to 30 years on the mid tier — further than anything else here.
- A calendar view of future cash flow that is genuinely the best in the category.
- What-if scenarios, refined over more than a decade.
- Native multi-currency with any base currency, and a free tier.
Limitations
- Automatic feeds cover the US, UK, Australia, New Zealand and Canada only — no eurozone bank connections.
- Multi-country connections require the $199.92 tier.
- Cash-flow shaped: you model the money, not the life event.

Wealthos
That's usModelling a specific decision — a house, a move, a child — on live European balances.
€7/mo or €63/yr; €45 one-time for the local desktop app
Strengths
- Life events as first-class objects on a timeline, not budget lines you adjust by hand.
- Two whole scenarios compared side by side, which is the shape of an actual decision.
- Built on live balances from 3,000+ EU and UK banks via PSD2 Open Banking.
- Plan templates for a wedding, a house purchase, a baby, a sabbatical or a move abroad.
- 46 MCP tools, so an AI assistant can run the forecast and save the plan.
Limitations
- A 10-year horizon against PocketSmith's 30.
- Less granular cash-flow detail than PocketSmith's calendar.
- No free tier, and European bank coverage only.
Shorter horizon, better shape for decisions — and the only one here that can read a eurozone bank.

Projection Lab
FIRE planners who want to model retirement in detail and enjoy the modelling.
Paid subscription; free demo mode
Strengths
- Extremely detailed long-range retirement and FIRE modelling.
- Tax and withdrawal-strategy modelling most tools ignore.
- A strong community and a generous demo.
Limitations
- Manual-first — limited automatic bank connectivity, especially in Europe.
- A steep learning curve; this is a modelling tool, not a dashboard.
The most powerful retirement modeller here, and the most work to use.

Around $249/yr, no free plan
Strengths
- Unmatched asset breadth and real-time valuation.
- A simple growth projection on tracked assets.

- The most expensive product here.
Included because people ask; it belongs in a tracking list more than this one.

The bottom line
Forecasting splits two ways: projecting a balance forward, and modelling a decision. Both are useful and they are not the same tool. Where your banks are decides which of these can run on live numbers rather than ones you typed in.

- For detailed retirement and FIRE modelling, including tax and withdrawal strategy, if you do not mind manual entry.
